Support Paul’s Wall Challenge
In September 2019, Paul Harrison, Managing Director of Swallow Dental Supplies, was diagnosed with cancer.
Starting life as a malignant tumour at the base of his tongue, cancer quickly spread to his lymphatic system. This required two long surgeries and rounds of intense radiotherapy to remove a golf ball-sized tumour from his throat.
Thankfully, Paul, who has been part of the dental industry for over 30 years, completed his treatment at the end of February 2020, much to the delight of his family and friends.
Giving Back
Having emerged victorious from his battle with cancer, Paul wanted to repay the hard-working clinicians and staff at Leeds General Infirmary and St. James's Hospital Bexley Wing, the home of the Leeds Cancer Centre.
To say thank you for the excellent treatment and support he received, Paul, an avid runner, made a selfless decision to raise money for a worthy cause.
"The initial plan was to run the Rome marathon, said Paul. “However, it was cancelled due to COVID and in a moment of madness, and in keeping with the Roman theme, I made a rash statement that I would run the length of Hadrian's Wall.
“Well, once I'd said it, I couldn't back down.”
Paul’s Wall Challenge
Running from east to west along the famous Hadrian’s Wall trail, Paul intends to complete the 82-mile route in just three days – that’s more than a marathon a day!
Not a man to shy away from a challenge, this enduring feat comes just over two years since his treatment began.
“Training is underway, so all I need to do now is raise some money. Any funds that I raise will be made available to further research in the Head and Neck clinic of the Leeds Cancer Centre,” explains Paul.
"Please give generously. Every donation, no matter how small, will help. Thank you."
Help Support Paul
If you would like to show your support, please contribute to what is a very worthy cause.
All donations are greatly appreciated and will help towards improving the fight against cancer, a truly dreadful disease that affects one in every three of us.
Update
Congratulations to Paul for completing his charity run along the length of Hadrian’s Wall, smashing his donation target of £2,500 in the process. Find out more about Paul's challenge.
